We believe local government plays an important role in protecting the things we hold in common, in safeguarding the welfare of our residents, and in building a strong and sustainable future. We’re proud of our accomplishments in serving Caroline’s residents:
 
 FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY
  • Town budget under tax cap for the past seven years
  • Built up reserves for new Highway Barn and Town Hall Improvements
  • Secured over one million dollars in grants and awards to support town initiatives
 
BROADBAND AND COMMUNICATIONS
  • Developing affordable Town-owned broadband for all residents
  • Secured $475,000 funding for broadband buildout
  • Caroline Town website, listserv, and Caroline Quarterly to all households

EMERGENCY SERVICES AND PUBLIC SAFETY
  • Supervisor chairs Council of Governments subcommittee for Countywide emergency medical response
  • Tax exemptions for volunteer fire-fighters and ambulance workers
  • Safe Streets for All Grant with 9 County Partners, $600,000
  • Town-wide Roadside and Creek Clean Up Days

COMMON SENSE ZONING
  • Support for homes and local businesses
  • Protection of environmental resources (water, farm, land air)
  • Incentives for senior and low-income housing and sustainable technology

AGRICULTURE AND RENEWABLE ENERGY
  • Established Town Agriculture Committee
  • Awarded $25,000 for Agriculture and Farmland Protection Plan
  • Brighten up Caroline NYSERDA Grant: delivered residential LED lights, LED streetlights, and LED conversion of fire departments
  • EV Charging Station and Geo-Thermal Heating/Cooling at Town Hall

YOUTH, SENIOR AND LOW-INCOME SUPPORT
  • Tax exemptions: seniors, veterans, disabled and low-income residents, housing for parents or grandparents, residential improvements
  • Caroline Food Pantry
  • Reading Room and Internet access
  • Caroline History Room and Club (Humanities NY grant)
  • Youth Commission and Brooktondale Summer Camp

COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY
  • Increased support for food pantry 
  • New initiatives for seniors
  • Ongoing support for youth programming
  • Flag policy for flying LGBTQ and other approved flags
